YCT is an independent charity based in its own premises ‘YCT House’ in the centre of Harlow.

We have been providing free confidential services for children and young people since 1988.
Like most charities YCT started out in a small way serving the immediate local community, while we still have a large focus on Harlow and its surrounding area we have grown considerably over the years.

We now are not only in Harlow, but we also work from community venues in Bishops Stortford, Cheshunt, and Ware, and schools, academies, colleges, alternative education provisions and specialist schools across Essex and East Hertfordshire.

Therapeutic Counselling at YCT
Counselling is an opportunity to talk to someone in confidence, about anything that could be worrying you. This could be about a whole range of issues and connected with home, school, college, work, relationships, sexuality or just about how you are feeling about yourself.
Our trained and experienced counsellors are friendly and welcoming and won’t make judgements about you or your problems Counselling takes place through an appointment of around 50 minutes with the same counsellor every week, who will listen to you and help you explore how you are feeling. You decide if you would like counselling and how long you would like counselling for.
We offer a counselling service from a number of venues – at our own premises YCT House in the middle of Harlow, Occasio House in Harlow Town Centre, The Old Drill Hall in Cheshunt, Cheshunt Library and Bishop’s Stortford Library. If you are aged 11-25 and would like to speak to one of our counsellors about anything that is bothering you then please get in touch.
E-counselling
This service is available to young people through the use of SKYPE –
sessions last for around 50 minutes and can take the form of a ‘virtual’ counselling session using a webcam or can be simply text based using the SKYPE Messenger service if you feel unable to have a face-to-face counselling session.
This service may be helpful for young people unable to attend appointments in person due to transport problems or may just want an appointment at a more convenient time. If you would like to know more about E-counselling please call/email or text us at the YCT office.
Personal Development
YCT can provide you with support designed to develop your confidence, communication skills and raise self-esteem. This may enable you to get what you want from life and make positive life choices.
If you would like some support geared towards your individual needs we can work with you to build on your strengths, challenge difficulties and develop and learn new skills. You can talk to us about ways to deal with any issues affecting your life - such as low self-esteem, bullying, your identity, feeling unsafe, difficulties with family, friends, and relationships and much more.
Sexual Health
Free condoms are always available free to C-card holders at YCT House.
